On Friday, June 23, 2017, the IceLiners Theatre on Ice Camp proudly presented two performances of Wonka On Ice at Ice Line Quad Rinks in West Chester, Pennsylvania!
The performances were a musical adaptation of the beloved movie and broadway show, featuring the familiar songs, character dialogues, sound effects and sets — all performed on ice!
All of our campers, from Basic Skills 5 beginners through advanced skaters, performed in the ice show. In addition to the show's principal characters, including the popular Oompa Loompas, skaters also played the roles of the school children, candy shop kids, golden tickets, paparazzi, factory workers, townspeople, golden geese and the starry night sky.
Campers had a fun-filled week learning the principles of Theatre on Ice. They spent lots of time on ice learning the choreography, rehearsing the show, developing their figure skating skills and refining their theatrical expression. Off ice, they worked on training techniques such as yoga, designed Wonka posters and played outdoor games.
IceLiners Theatre on Ice Camp was directed by Kate Blanchette, Director of IceLiners Synchronized Skating Team. She was assisted by her fantastic coaching staff, including Anastasia Cannuscio, Carolyn Thompson, Jeanmarie Mercier and several camp counselors. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who worked on the costume design, prop creation and set production!
Special thanks to West Pharmaceuticals and Schmata Productions for loaning us various costume items! A big thank you to the Ice Line Quad Rinks Management Team and The Grille at Ice Line for all of their help and support!
Congratulations to all of our very talented campers! It was a fun week — ending with two scrumdidilyumptious shows for family, friends and the community!
